OUR WORK
Fabrication
Williams / Thistlethwaite, LA
Williams, out of Thislethwaite, LA, needed approximately 10,000 square feet of walk grating to be replaced in their compressor building without bringing an end to production. They found themselves in quite the predicament when most contractors turned the job down due to safety risks. Superior Resources, however, was up for the challenge and ultimately won the bid for the project.
When working in a high-pressure natural gas compressor station, safety is of the utmost importance. As a result, our safety supervisor was on site for the duration of the job to oversee safety meetings, perform JSAs, gas monitor the building, and uphold an overall safe work environment. We used air tools inside that building, so that no sparks, typical of using regular tools, would be generated. Additionally, we did all cutting and modifications of the steel grating outside of the building in a designated location to ensure a safe work environment. Anything taken out in a day’s time was put back in place by the end of every afternoon, allowing Williams’ night crew to perform their nightly maintenance on the compressors. It took roughly one month to change all of the walk grating, handrails, and bracing, as well as cut and fit around pipes and add toe kick plates. We completed the job on-time and without any workplace accidents or shutdowns.
